Hello fellow explorers!

Down below, you will find tips for traveling to ensure your next vacay can run smoothly and you can enjoy yourself from start to finish.

Please comment some of your own tips and tricks you have too! I would love to hear your tips and will add them to this list!

  1. Double check dates and locations when booking ( on the way to the airport too.. yes I’ve gone to the wrong airport before 😅 )

  2. Bring a good phone case.. Preferably Lifeproof 😁 ( it would definitely suck to have a broken phone while traveling!)

  3. Pack a reusable water bottle. (Saves lots of money 🤑 and reminds you to stay hydrated)

  4. Pack fruit and other snacks ( yes, if packed properly you can bring them through security. Some flights stopped serving during covid. Also, another way to save money!)

  5. Bring a multi outlet adapter ( for international)

  6. Have all your tickets/ documents saved in your gallery on your phone, easily accessible in a folder in email, or if you like to carry hard copies, have them in one easy to reach pocket ( you don’t want to be that person holding up the line with papers flying everywhere 😉 )

  7. Order your foreign currency ahead of time ( if it’s not a common currency some banks won’t have enough and the machines at the airports are not always dependable)

  8. Notify your banks where you are headed ( so your cards don’t get shut off )

  9. Dont forget chargers! And head phones ( preferably sound proof for the plane ride )

  10. If going to a popular tourist destination ( like Cancun ) book you taxi and tours ahead of time. You will be way overcharged by those vicious taxi drivers at the airport.

  11. Check the bed for bed bugs 😅

  12. Act like a local. If you wander around looking like a tourist, you’re more prone to getting taken advantage of and can obviously be dangerous if traveling solo.

  13. Many companies use WhatsApp to communicate for free (internationally ) and it’s super easy to use!

  14. Bring comfortable shoes!

  15. Pack lightly. Save room for souvenirs! ( and you know you’re gonna wear the same three outfits 😜)...

  16. ... but bring plenty of undies and swimsuits!

  17. Can’t find your toiletries in a travel size? Buy mini reusable bottles and fill them yourself!

  18. Go with the flow! The best memories are the unplanned adventurous!

  19. Learn basic phrases for your country your visiting. It can come off as rude ( especially in France) if you just start speaking English.

  20. They do have Uber in most countries, but always check and have a taxi or shuttle number available just in case.

  21. Driving is intense in the Caribbean! (even if you think you’re a good driver, I personally would not recommend)

  22. Also, using taxis gives you the freedom to take more pics and drink on vacay without worrying!

  23. Leave tips for housekeeping (especially if staying a while) a little can go a long way in other countries.

  24. When arriving at the airport, find your gate before getting food or hitting the bar ( could be further or hard to find!)

  25. Drink plenty of water before and during the flight. The low humidity can dehydrate you ( and you don’t want to look dry and crusty for your vacay)

  26. Eating fresh fruits and veggies slowly realest water to help keep you feeling good and hydrated too!

  27. A 30 minute layover is not realistic! (even just getting off your previous flight could take almost 30 minutes sometimes).

  28. Get lost on purpose! ( but make sure you have your phone of course to get back 😂)

  29. Talk to the locals. They will give you the best must see’s and do’s for your location!

  30. Wear a backpack or an across the body bag. Purses just on the shoulder are very easy targets.

  31. Try different foods but also some chains and fast food are even better in other countries!

  32. Visit museums or other tourist spots during “lunch time” ( you’ll have fewer crowds because everyone is headed to lunch)

  33. Try not to eat or shop in a tourist attraction spot. ( everything is much more expensive)

  34. Go to a grocery store! You will find so many different foods and snacks. You can learn a lot about their culture this way!

  35. Bring a portable charger. (especially for long flights)

  36.  Take copies of travel documents

  37.  Put toiletries, important docs, change of clothes, and your electronics in your carry on. Especially if you check your bag!

  38.  Ladies, pack your feminine necessities even if it’s not your time of the month ( you never know!)

  39. Wear loose clothing, especially long flights.( good for circulation)

  40. Also, get up and walk around on long flights ( also good for circulation)

  41. Don’t over book yourself. Save a day for travel and an extra day for unplanned adventures!

  42. Take only what you need when leaving the hotel and keep the rest in a secure safe spot.

  43. If solo, don’t be afraid to eat alone, take those selfies, go out.. it could feel weird at first but you actually meet a lot more people that way! (and everyone is too busy on their phones or worrying about themselves to care you’re eating solo 💁‍♀️)

  44. RELAX. Save a day to relax and rejuvenate before headed home. That’s one of the major reasons to get away right?!🙃

  45. Calories don’t count on vacay. Enjoy yourself 😋

  46. Make sure the water is safe to drink!

  47. Check to see if you need a visa. Even if traveling for just a short time, Australia requires you to have a Visa, or an ETA for Canadians.

  48. Watching travel vlogs or hotel walk throughs ( on Travel with SAS YouTube channel 😉 ) so you know what to expect at each location!

  49. Put dryer sheets in your luggage to keep things smelling fresh!

  50. Army roll your clothes. Not sure why or how but it saves space and keeps it from wrinkling!

  51. Make sure your passport or ID won’t expire while you’re away.

  52. Read! Traveling to a new country can feel overwhelming, but most countries speak English too and signs will most likely have English on them. So if you feel lost at the airport, just read the signs💁‍♀️

  53. Don’t wait for all of your friends and fam to travel ( you may never see the world )

  54. Try using a travel agent ( Travel with SAS 😉) it could actually save you money and you get to just relax from start to finish.

  55. Above all else, enjoy every second! Good or bad, it’s about the journey not the destination 😊
